Welcome to the first (and probably only) website devoted to that wonderful phrase/gesture: Yat kay! Here's a FAQ
1: What is Yat Kay?
Yat Kay! is Thai for "Crocodile-fucker."
2: It is? That's sick!
Well no one's keeping you here.
3: IE is too damn slow. While I'm here, what's the big deal out of this?
Its a long story, but the site founders were all roommates and started shouting this phrase and doing the corresponding hand gesture one night.
3a: Were you guys stoned?
We don't need drugs to be crazy.
4: There's a hand gesture?
There's a post here on how to do it.
5: Now I'm interested. I'll just hit stop before the page goes away.
That's not a question.
6: So when you shout Yat kay! to someone, what does it mean?
Well, it can mean many things. One could use it as an insult. But we think its a message of triumph and hope, like "Stick it to the man!"
7: Hope? Hope of what?
If everybody took a moment to do Yat kay! together, there would be no more wars or violence or hate. Its because when you're shouting it out loud, you need both hands (so you gotta put down the gun) and you can't say nasty things about someone because you're using your lungs to shout "Yat kay!"
8: Wow! I am truly inspired. What can I do?
Incorporate Yat Kay! as part of your vocabulary. The next time you want to compliment someone, don't say "Good job on the Higgins contract Johnson," but say "Yat kay!" Then, try and get them to do it and take a picture. Send it to us and we'll post it. Tell them what it means and they'll be inspired to do it too.
